It was the Natural thing to do...

In the fall of 1999, the Oregon plum industry was shrinking, and the prospect of not selling our family’s plum crop was looming. Standing in the middle of the orchard, during the harvest, my grandmother and I bantered around the idea of combining some of our bee’s sweet honey with our rich-tasting plums. Within months, the idea became a reality. Enthusiastically, we created our first delicious product and successfully shared the samples at the nearby Hillsboro Farmers Market. Today, Little Oak Farms is home of the Original PlumHoneyTM, the pride of a growing family business in the countryside of Cornelius, Oregon. From our farm to you. Enjoy! ~ Jonathan

The PlumHoneyTM Story

The PlumHoneyTM Story is a story of a 5-Generation Family Farm growing the products that make up PlumHoneyTM. In 1884 the Eischen Family began farming in its current Cornelius, Oregon location. It was then the Italian Tart Plum trees were planted.

Our great grandfather spoke often about the plum orchards and the fruit dryer that was located on the family farm. Today all that is left of the dryer is an occasional red brick showing up in the soil when the plum orchard is tilled. The plum orchards have been expanded and continue to provide the great color and flavor for many products.

Honey production began 40 years ago when our grandfather began beekeeping for better pollination in the orchards. For years, both products used in PlumHoneyTM were produced from the family farm. It was not until recently that the idea of bringing these two products together into a flavorful blend occurred. Our grandmother along with her 14 year-old grandson put the idea into action. They had family and friends test various blends to come up with the perfect plum-honey taste and plum-honey color.

This ideal product then was used in many ways. Great used as a topping on ice cream and sundaes, PlumHoneyTM found its way onto waffles, pancakes, and fresh bread. When used as a sweetener for tea and other beverages you will find that PlumHoneyTM has a balanced sweetness and tartness you just can not put down. The unique growing climate of the Tualatin Valley creates an unbeatable rich color and flavor, unseen in other regions of the country. This product provides the benefits of honey and plums in a single package. You will find PlumHoneyTM to be an exciting new addition to your dining. Enjoy our gourmet honeys.
